INTRODUCTION My
name is Lorenda Gray and my passion for sewing began at the age of 10. I am originally from New Mexico and moved
to Kansas City, Missouri in 1982. I am
a native of the Navajo Tribe born into the Red House People Clan for the
Bitter Water Clan. Many
years of experience as a professional seamstress paved an opportunity for me
to open a home-based alteration and custom tailoring business. My goal is to offer high quality
craftsmanship to all my clients. I
also specialize in alterations and design modifications on ready-to-wear
bridal gowns. I also teach
introductory and advanced basic sewing courses. Construction
times for custom made projects are based on the complexity of the project and
a face-to-face/consultation appointment is required. A deposit is required before work can

PROJECT TIMELINES

Wedding

1-2 hours |
Initial face-to-face client consultation: ·
Advance notice of 6 to 8 months is required. ·
Clients are encouraged to bring magazine clippings or
sketches of bridal gowns or special occasion dresses. ·
Discuss budget as well as the project completion date. ·
Choice of fabric, design/pattern and embellishments
(fabric swatches are available). Clients
are responsible for purchasing their own fabric. Purchase and delivery of fabric may take up
to 2 weeks. ·
Complete set of measurements will be taken. ·
A deposit of $150 is required for wedding gowns before
work can begin. Deposits are applied
to final billing of a finished garment. ·
Complete the Project Worksheet Agreement/Contract. This contract will serve as the primary
source for the preparation of the invoice. ·
Schedule first fitting appointment. |

Prior to 2nd fitting |
·
Clients are encouraged to purchase their wedding day
undergarments prior to their first fitting appointment. This is absolutely
important because change of undergarments can alter the fit of a finished
garment. |

Final fitting |
·
Final pressing. ·
Client must bring undergarments and shoes. ·
Final payment is due. |

Occasion Dresses Project
